Lacewell stated that the failure was tied to the bank's traditional operations and could be attributed to weak management practices. Signature Bank faced criticism earlier this year after a company it provided services to was accused of being part of a Ponzi scheme in South Africa.

Signature Bank and Crypto While the NYDFS head denied any connection between Signature Bank's collapse and crypto,the fact remains that Signature Bank is known for its dealings with cryptocurrency. It was one of the first banks to offer banking services to cryptocurrency companies and actively worked with the crypto industry. The bank established a blockchain-based payments platform and launched its own stablecoin,Signet,last year.
3. The Signet Stablecoin Signet is Signature Bank's answer to the growing demand for digital payments. It's a digital token that is pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar,meaning that its value remains stable. The token allows for instant payments and can be easily transferred between Signet accounts. Signature Bank has said that Signet has helped it attract new clients and generate more revenue,and the stablecoin has been praised for its seamless integration into existing infrastructure.
