Pietro Poretti, direttore del Dipartimento Sviluppo economico di Lugano, parla dell'iniziativa del Piano B della città per promuovere i pagamenti in criptovalute in tutta la città da parte dell'amministrazione comunale. I rappresentanti di altre città hanno chiesto a Lugano il "come e perché" della loro iniziativa, che secondo Poretti potrebbe servire come caso di studio tangibile per l'adozione di opzioni di pagamento decentralizzate in tutto il mondo. Dirk Klee di Bitcoin Suisse ha sottolineato che la reputazione della Svizzera come luogo ben regolamentato e sicuro per fare affari ha anche aiutato l'ecosistema locale delle criptovalute a crescere nel tempo. Sia Poretti che Klee ritengono che l'apertura mentale sia necessaria per un ulteriore dialogo nelle future conferenze del WEF.. .

Representatives from other cities have asked Lugano for the "hows and whys" of their initiative,which Poretti believes could serve as a tangible case study for adoption of decentralized payment options worldwide. Dirk Klee of Bitcoin Suisse highlighted Switzerland’s reputation as a wellregulated and safe place to do business has also helped local cryptocurrency ecosystem grow over time. Both Poretti and Klee believe that openmindedness is necessary for further dialogue at future WEF conferences.
